Radio's GoldenEra Recalled by Writer "None of Your Business" by Car- roll Carroll tells of the days when Burns and Allen, Al Jolson, Rudy Vallee, Bob Hope, Bing ero sby, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Cantor, John Barrymore and Guy Lombardo were using radio as a stepping- stone from the stage to the cine- ma. Here, told by a humorist who worked with them all, is the wild, wacky story of what life with the stars was really like. Carroll tells how radio programs were conceived, promoted, written and produced—despite the zany happenings backstage. Carroll joined the radio de- partment of one of the nation's largest advertising agencies, .7. Walter Thompson, in 1932, and during the next 35 years he : II wrote for, and mingled with, many of the best-loved names in show business. He ghosted two successful books DR for Bob Hope and has contributed to several anthologies and a num- ber of major magazines. Currently living in New York City, Carroll reviews television commercials for Variety. .1 DETROIT BANK t r, ETR01 -: F A N E: TRUST De De De N reetin Lela Dt3 :It_ De m De DE • De De De De De De De De De De De ERE: De De De De De De DE De De De DE De DE Oakland U.
