MARK SLUTSKY Karen Marsha Bonwit became the bride of Mark Sender Slutsky in a recent ceremony at Temple Emanuel, Kensington, Maryland. Rabbi Maurice Kleinberg officiated. Parents of the couple gre and Mrs. Stuart E. Bonwit of Wheaton, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Slutsky of Oxley Rd., Southfield. The bride wore princess-line, organza gown with bishop sleeves. The gown and match- ing cuapel train were trimmed wit,a appliques of Venise lace, and the silk illusion veil fell from a crown cf pearls and re-embroi- dered Alencon lace. She carried an old-fashioned bog- q.let of roses and orchid, accented b; pink sweetheart roses. Judy Bonwit served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Betty Fisher and Ellen Berg- man. Ellen Bonwit was flower girl. David Slutsky, the bridegroom's brother. was best man. Ushers were Michael Handelman and Dan- iel Fisher. Arnold Einhorn, past president and chairman of the evening, pre- sented Magen David Adom's Broth- er's Keeper Award to Shaarit Hap- laytah for continuous and sustain- ed assistance to Israel's official red cross service. The outgoing president, Dr. John J. Mames, and programing chair- man, Mrs. Leon Popowski lauded the group for its assistance to the people of Israel through Israel Bond subscriptions and Magen navid Adorn. Recently, Shaarit Haplaytah presented a fully equip- ped ambulance to MDA, contribut- ed an operating room at the Haifa Medical Complex and is sponsor- ing a recovery room at the Ashdod First Aid Medical Center. Halpern accepted the plaque in behalf of Shaarit Haplaytah. He stated: "To help to save precious lives and alleviate pain and misery is a human obligation and a noile endeavor. It is a source of gratify- ing experience. We must mobilize all our efforts to strengthen our important ideological triangle: Re- membrance, Israel, Welfare. American Red Cross. The chapter urgently needs 500 hospital volunteers to serve in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Currently, Red Cross hos- pital volunters provide assistance in over 30 hospitals in the tri- county area. In general, Red Cross hospital volunteers assist in the "non-pro- fessional" hospital duties and pro- vide the extra attention that hospi- tal personnel are sometimes too busy to give. Duties of hospital volunteers vary, according to specific hospita! needs. They receive their training and designation of duties at the hospital to which they are assigned or request to work. A primary duty of Red Cross hospital volunteers is to visit with patients. Other Red Cross volunteer serv- ices include: blood program, transportation, service to military families, office volunteers and in- duction volunteers.
