The Blue and White Boxes have been a symbol of the Jewish Na- tional Fund for more than 70 years. They can be found in Jewish homes throughout the world, in- cluding Iceland, Rhodesia, Singa- pore, Mexico` and Gibraltar. The boxes have played a major role in the establishment and development of Israel. With the coins collected from the boxes, land was purchased, cleared and developed, roads constructed, and settlements founded. The JNF is today the exclusive land development agent of the Israeli government. This year, the 100,000,000th tree will be planted in Israel by JNF. The Jewish National Fund has built the major roads in Israel and has reclaimed thousands of acres an Cooling of barren, unproductive soil and turned them into highly productive By agricultural developments. Funds collected from the Blue Ruth and White Boxes account for a sub- itantial share of the organization's Sirkis revenue. However, it is estimated that nearly $1,000,000 deposited in JNF boxes remains uncollected. Blue Box holders with boxes that remain uncleared after the drive will be asked to call the JNF office, A tzimmes is one of those dishes 399-0820. which we remember with nostal- gia.
