SANCTUARY OF B'NAI DAVID

Some people cut a specific num-
ber of slices of bread for the
Sabbath meal.
Some cut seven pieces of bread
for each meal on the Sabbath
which represents the seven days
of the week which culminated on
the Sabbath or the number of peo-
ple who are called to the Torah
on the Sabbath, this number being
seven. Others cut five pieces on
Friday night representing the five
words of the second of the Three
Priestly Blessings. They cut seven
pieces for the morning meal of
the Sabbath representing the seven
words of the Third of the Three
Priestly Blessings. They cut three
pieces for the Sabbath afternoon
meal representing the three words
of the first of the Three Priestly
Blessings. This procedure would
make the Sabbath a day on which
all three of the Priestly Blessings
would befall the Jewish home.
