Michael Wigler recently received
an honorable mention in the Retail
Jewelers Association competition,
Diamonds for Christmas. He was
the only designer among the 16
jewelers honored by the 17,500-
member association.
Wigler, whote studio is at 21751
W. 11 Mile, holds a masters de-
gree in sculpture and a minor in
jewelry.
His winning ring, on display
through Sept. 15 at the New York
Hilton, combines 14-carat, square
gold tubing and nine square-cut
diamonds totaling .61 carats in a
contemporary design.
Wigler appeared Tuesday on
television's "Morning Show."
Diabetes Detection Report
Final figures on the 1969 diabe-
tes detection program of the Mich-
igan Diabetes Association, a Unit-
ed Fund service, have just been
released. Of the 14,004 persons
tested in blood-screening pro-
grams, 2,041 were referred to their
physician for further evaluation.
Of these, 230 were found to have
diabetes, 176 were listed by their
physician as being potentially dia-
betic, and 1,064 were listed as non-
diabetic. Another 198 were known
to be diabetic previously, and 373
did not reply.
