Reform Judaism and civil rights, died last Saturday at age 64. Mr. Fain, an industrialist and retail merchant, was frequently - named to presidential commissions on trade and during the 1960 Presi- dental campaign was chairman cf the social action committee of the Union of American Hebrew Cor.- gregations. His committee worked among 605 Reform temples for "fair play and objectivity," and his efforts earned a brotherhood award of the National Conference of Christians and Jews in 1963. He also held other honors for his achievements in religious and social justice. Mr. Fain founded and was chairman of a citizens committee that campaigned for several years for a fair-housing statute, finally enacted by the legislature in 1965, .and was active in organizations devoted to problems of housing for low-income families and min- ority groups.
