Set Dinner, Talk

The Metropolitan Detroit Bnai
Brith Bowling Association will host
the presidents and secretaries of
its 18th affiliates at its annual
dinner-seminar to be held 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday at the Holiday Inn in
Southfield.
Gary Alter, executive secretary
of the Detroit Bnai Brith Council,
will be guest speaker. Alfred
Brook, first vice president of the
National Bnai Brith Bowling Asso-
ciation, will chair the seminar.
Recently elected officers of the
local association are president,
Nate Smitheimer; vice presidents,
Larry Kopel, Paul Gross and Ivan
Edelstein; secretary, Mark Klin-
ger; and treasurer, Leonard Broz-
gold.
The 18 affiliated leagues are Pis-
gah, Zeiger, Bloch, Morgenthau,
Israel, Marshall, Keidan, Down-
town-Fox, T u c k e r, Zager-Stone,
Classic, Cosmo, Detroit, Einstein,
Livonia, Brandeis, Tikvah and
L'Hayim.

Rabbi to Direct Hillel
at 3 Aussie Colleges

WASHINGTON — Rabbi Mattis
Kantor, former principal of the
Hebrew Academy in Norfolk, Va.,
has been named director of the
Bnai Brith Hillel foundation at the
University of Sydney, the Univer-
sity of New South Wales and Mac-
quarie University in Sydney, Aus-
tralia.
His appointment, effective with
the fall term, was announced by
Rabbi Benjamin M. Kahn, national
director of Bnai Brith Hillel Foun-
dations. The Jewish campus move-
ment provides religious, cultural
and counseling services for Jewish
students and faculty at 280 univer-
sities.
Rabbi Kantor, 27, replaces Dr.
Alan Crown, senior lecturer in the
department of religion at the Uni-
versity of Sydney, who has been
acting director of the Hillel pro-
gram since 1964.

Platt to Richard Mark Perlman,
son of Mr. Jack V. Perlman of
Pointe - o - Woods Dr., Southfield and
the late Helen Perlman was an-
