38 Collegians to Spend
Year of Study in Israel

NEW YORK—Thirty-eight Amer-
ican college students, including

lour from Canada, have left for a
year's study at the Hayim Green-
berg Institute, sponsored by the
department of education and cul-
ture of the Jewish Agency for Is-
rael, gives additional educational
training in Hebrew, Judaica and
Israel, on a collegiate level to Jew-
ish youth from abroad.
Since its inception, more than
1,000 students have spent a year or
more at Hayim Greenberg, more
than half of them Americans.
The students, recipients of schol-
arships, return to their home com-
munities after a year of study that
will equip them to become teach-
ers and better educated Hebrew
speaking laymen.

Collegians to Air
Issue of Draft

The Michigan Association of
Jewish College Students will con-
tinue its discussion groups at 8
p.m. on alternate Thursdays at the
Jewish Center.
Next Thursday, the topic will be
"The Jewish College Student and
the Draft."
Other topics will be:
Sept. 10—"The Jewish Defense
League"; and Sept. 24—"Activism
and the Jewish College Student."
Past discussions centered on "The
New Left in Israel" and "An Ex-
ploration of Jewish Identity—What
Being Jewish Means to Me."
All college students are invited.

I 'Hashivem Hayim'

As a final version to the "Bring
Them Back Alive" slogan of the
AAA, Bernard Isaacs this week
offered:
"Hashivem Hayim!"
Except for some interesting let-
ters with comments on the discus-
sion, especially one very illuminat-
ing one from Manuel Neiman, the
probing closes with the last Isaacs
comment.

MRS. MYLES GORDON

Jan Carol Adinoff became the
bride of Myles Zev Gordon in a
ceremony at her mother's home in
Los Angeles.
Parents of the couple are Mrs.
Joseph Adinoff and the late Mr.
Adinoff, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Gordon of E. Roycourt Ave., Hunt-
ington Woods.

The bride's gown was of voile
trimmed in daisies, and her wed-
ding veil, an heirloom of four
generations in her mother's fam-
ily.

Pamela Adinoff served her sister
as maid of honor. The junior
bridesmaid was Minde Gordon of
Detroit.. The bridegroom's brother,
Sheldon Gordon of Detroit, served
as best man.
The couple plans to live in Los
Angeles.

Mrs. Eve Weiss Named
UJA Women's Director

Mrs. Eve Weiss has been ap-
pointed director of the National
Women's Division of the United
Jewish Appeal. Edward Ginsberg,
general chairman . of the UJA, an-
nounced.
An attorney and mother of
three children, Mrs. Weiss is for-
mer regional executive director
of the American Jewish Congress.

MRS. EVE WEISS

She helped to implement pro-
grams of that national organiza-
tion and served as a community
relations liaison officer.
Long active in community af-
fairs, she served as president of
the Northeast Queens Council for
Schools, a delegate body of the
Parent-Teachers Association, from
1965 to 1967 and as vice presi-
dent from 1963 to 1965. She was
instrumental in organizing and
leading efforts to improve the
quality of education in her com-
munity.
A native of New York, Mrs.
Weiss attended New York Univer-
sity as an undergraduate, and
holds a law degree from the same
institution. She has also received
certification in hospital volunteer
administration from Northeastern
University.
