With so much adverse criticism
directed at today's youth it was
a refreshing experience for me to
make the acquaintance of 12-
year-old Michael, son of Ray, and
Shirley Abrams, of the Cushion 'N'
Cue in Oak Park . . . Besides be-
ing an all-around athlete, young
Mike epitomizes what adults would
like to see in our growing youth
. . With an infectious smile on
his face, Michael can engage
adults in dialogue on nearly any
subject . . . An excellent student
and indefatigable worker, this
great, young lad finds great satis-
faction in being helpful to others.
. . How much sweeter life could
be if Mike's exuding personality
would rub off on other people.
Sam Cann, of the State Audi-
tor's staff. told me that a coed
at a university was working her
way through school as a belly-
dancer . . . I suppose it's okay
if you have the stomach for it.
Leonard Rosenthal, who oper-
ates Leonard's Snack Bar in the
Cushion 'N' Cue, tells me of some
of the terminology used in short
order dinners . ... After a cus-
tcmer ordered a plate of hash,
the waiter called into the kitchen,
• "Gent wants to take a chance" .. .
Immediately, a second customer
ordered the same dish, and this
time the waiter yelled out, "An-
other sport."
Since the original announcement
of a reorganization, barrister-
singer Jimmie Saperstein, head of
the local tent of Saints and Sinners
has been spending much of his
time handling new applications
. . The resurgence of this great
organization which has dedicated
itself to helping retarded children
will have a great impact on the
future of many of our youngsters
. . . The inner satisfaction one
can attain by giving of himself
has no end and seeing the results
of your giving will make your spine
tingle and carry to the very depths
of your toes . . . The decision is
yours, but the future of -affected
children will be greatly influenced
by that decision.

tition over and over, the solicitor
was saying, "Now's the time to
stand up and be counted." . . .
Asked why the solicitor's signa-
ture was not on the paper, he
replied, "I prefer to remain an-
onymous."
I thought I was going to be
the first to announce the forthcom-
ing testimonial dinner for Danny
Raskin, but I cannot deny it, I've
already seen the first announce-
ment in print . . . My first fill-in
for Danny as a guest columnist
occurred about six years ago, and
the column was a testimonial to
him and all of the fine things he
had done and what he stood for
. . . My estimation of Danny, the
devoted son of mother Minnie, has
risen much more since then, and
it would be the finest gesture ever
if on Oct. 13, all of his friends
would be present at the Raleigh
House to do him honor.

Equality is . essential to good
breeding, but unfortunately equality
is incompatible with differences in
income, as the people on the lower
income level always tend to con-
sider themselves superior to those
above them. — George Bernard
Shaw.
