Greek Govt. Frees
7 Convicted Arabs
LONDON (JTA) - The Greek
government released Thursday the
seven Arabs convicted of terrorist
activities in Greek courts.
They apparently were sent to
Damascus by plane from the
Athens airport.
Earlier, in New York, a dele-
gation of the Conference of Presi-
Organizations had called on the
Greek Consulate to express its
deep concern over the project-
ed release of Arab terrorists duly
convicted of murder in Greek
courts.
The delegation pointed out that
the promise made by Greek au-
thorities under duress when the
terrorists held guns against them
has no "moral or pragmatic" va-
lidity.
"For the Greek government
to let convicted _murders free is
to encourage, in effect, further
acts of terorism not only in
Greece but against the safety
of international air travel in gen-
eral," the Conference asserted.
The Greek government promised
to release the Arab prisoners after
six Arab terrorists seized an Olym-
pic airliner last month, held its
crew and a Red Cross representa-
tive as hostages and ordered them
to fly the airliner to Egypt.
