New Industrial Centers Levin Winds Up Exciting Campaign I to Provide Employment Sander Levin is winding up an exciting and most active campaign for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Michigan. The organizational and media effort of the Levin campaign for governor was aimed at showing people: Sander Levin's record of accomplishment. why he can get things done, and Sander Levin's stand on the issues, what he wants to get done. The campaign is Sander Levin, unvarnished. Levin has the unqualified en- dorsement of labor and fraternal organizations, and many congres- sional and liberal groups in the state. JERUSALEM (JTA)—The gov- ernment has earmarked $571,420 for the establishment of two major industrial centers, one in Judea and one in Samaria. The projects, drawn up as part of the economic plans coordinated by Minister-Without-Portfolio Shi- mon Peres with the help of econo- mic experts, will foster industriali- zation of the administered areas and provide sources of employ- ment for the populations there. Each of the two new compounds will employ 300 persons in modern buildings. SANDER LEVIN Teachers' Groups Endorse Cooper Groups of teachers have an- nounced their endorsement of the candidacy of Daniel S. Cooper, for the 15th state senatorial seat. A committee of Southfield teachers, members of the Southfield Educa- tion Association, met with Rep. Cooper recently at the Oak Park Community Center. Kramer Proposes Measures to Aid State's Retarded State Rep. Albert A. Kramer, candidate for the 15th District Senatorial seat, stated this week that one of his major aims will Le to provide additional assistance for proper funding for programs and facilities for the retarded. A member of New Horizons and of the Metropolitan Advisory Board for Rehabilitation of the Handicap- ped, Kramer has visited all of the state's residential facilities for re- tarded. He pledges to make this program one of his chief concerns. As a member of the standing legislative committee on insur- ance, Kramer was responsible for the recently adopted statute which creates a blanket cover of protec- tion for policyholders who were in- sured with an insurance company that became insolvent. Both of these statutes were named "Kram- er Acts" in recognition of his orig- inal labors on behalf of the motor- ing public of Michigan. Kramer's insurance expertise has earned him national recogni- tion. He was recently elected vice- chairman of the Conference of In- surance Legislators, which includes representatives from all states east of the Mississippi. He will serve as convention chairman for the an- nual legislative conference sched- uled to meet in Detroit in Septem- ber. Kramer authored the proposal which guaranteed Blue Cross pro- tection for retarded and physically handicapped dependent minors. In addition, he introduced the original amendment designed to give state support for summer school pro- grams for the physically handicap- ped. For the City of Southfield he authored legislation which, under the Building Authority Act, has permitted construction of a new recreational facility. For his efforts he was given a resolution of com- mendation. As a result of Kramer's efforts in behalf of the retarded, he was the recipient of an Award of Merit from the Oakland County Associa- tion for the Retarded. He has been associated with in- numerable Jewish activities. He is a member of Bnai Brith, regional advisory board of Anti-Defamation League, Jewish War Veterans, Zionist Organization of Detroit. His wife is associated with Hadassah Auxiliary of the Jewish Home for the Aged and Pioneer Women. His late parents, Mildred and Morris Kramer, were long-time Zionists. His brother, Richard, is a past president of the Zionist Organiza- tion of Detroit, and his sister, Mrs . Bessie Berris, is past president of . the Council of Pioneer Women. The committee composed of Eadie Celette, Paul Almli, John Wolfe, Clyde McQueen, Ruth Kran- itz, Jim Briggs, Jan Siegal and Bea Sacks, issued a statement urg- ing all teachers "to help insure Daniel Cooper's nomination. It is vitally important that a high cali- ber man fill the position. We think Dan Cooper is that man!" In Hazel Park, James Dumont, president of the Hazel Park Educa- tion Association, and his commit- tee have also endorsed the Cooper candidacy. Rep. Cooper received the Mich- igan Federation of Teachers ap- proval. Also active in the Cooper campaign is a group of parents known as volunteers for Cooper, who are interested in education and who have endorsed Rep. Coop- er's efforts on behalf of public schools.
