Rabbi Eugene Greenfield Chairmen of the Board Friday, July 17, 1970-39 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Benjamin Cohen, 94, Windsor Leader Benjamin Cohen, elder and hon- orary president of Windsor's Sharey Zedek Synagogue, died July 11 at age 94. Mr. Cohen, 1116 Parent, Windsor, was born in Russia and came to Canada 67 years ago. He moved to Windsor in 1921 and founded the Border City Dar- ies, now known as Twin Pines Dairy of Windsor, in which he work- ed actively until f iv e years ago. He acquired the nickname of "Milhig Cohen." The dairy is the Cohen sole provider of Passover milk products to the Windsor area. Mr. Cohen also was a member of Windsor's Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue, active in the Jewish Community Center of Windsor and one of the founders of the Hakh- nosas Orkhim fund for the needy and destitute. When the high holidays came last year, Mr. Cohen was too ill and could not finish attending services for the first time. In- stead, the rabbi and synagogue members came to his house and blew the shofar for him at home. A Benjamin Cohen Memorial Scholarship fund is being set up in his name under the auspices of Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue.
