NEW YORK — A unique day-
boarding coeducational high school
cosponsored by several national
Jewish organizations committed to
the broadening and deepening of
Jewish values among Jewish high
school youth will open in Albany
in September 1973.
To be one of five throughout the
United States, the school will cross
denominational lines within Juda-
ism through study courses cover-
ing the Orthodox, Conservative and
Reform ideologies.
Planned by leaders from the
three branches of Judaism, the
"National Hebrew Day High
School" has- the national endorse-
ment of the American Habonim
Association.

brew Academy of the Capital Dis-
trict and educational director of
Temple Israel's educational center,
spoke to the charter meeting of the
National Hebrew Day High School.
Arian was recipient of the 1970

their secular departments only.
The state of Michigan compels se-
cular instruction of its youth. It
controls teacher certification and
curriculum standards of the secu-
lar departments of all elementary
schools — non-public included.
Why, then, should children en-
rolled in non-public schools be de-
prived of the secular benefits ex-
tended to those in the public
school systems?
I am especially concerned for
the Hebrew Day Schools in our
community. Parochiaid aside, I, as
Mr. Cohen, have an appeal to
make. Acquaint yourselves, if you
haven't already, with the outstand-
ing pro gr ams and products of the
Hebrew Day Schools in our com-
munity_ You will find they greatly
enrich American life in general
and Jewish life, in particular. As
such, they deserve much greater
recognition and appreciation by
every conscientious Jew and the
Jewish Welfare Federation.
