Israel's Economic Future
Depends on Export Rise
NEW YORK (ZINS) — The
United States is 80 times the
size of Israel, but its production
is 200 per cent greater than that
of Israel. Almost all of the Ameri-
can gross national product is sold
in the domestic market, while
exports account for only 5-7 per
cent of the GNP. Israel, on the
other hand, must place its major
emphasis on exports.
Within the next decade — if
T -ael is to achieve economic self-
sufficiency — she must aim at
exporting around 40 per cent of
her gross national product, accor-
ding to the opinion of those who
have studied Israel's economic
situation.
Israel must more than double
its production for export in the
near future. The experts are con-
vinced that Israel must reach this
goal within the next 10 years or
she will "miss the bus" in the
race for foreign markets.
