Parochiaid Foes
Seekino- Support

Editor, The Jewish News:
Since the Jewish Community
Council is officially supporting the
anti- Parochiaid campaign, this is
a report of the situation at this
time.
The Council Against Parochial('
is seeking a state constitutional
amendment outlawing all devices
and subterfuges that now drain tax
money a way from the public
schools to the private parochial
systems.
Shortly after June 25. the peti-
tions will be presented to the sec-
retary of state for certification.
There should be no confusion
growing out of Attorney General
Kelley's opinion that the petitions
are improperly drafted as to form.
Before they were printed, the ap-
proval of the research bureau of
the Univesity of Michigan was
obtained, and we have in our
files the approved copy bearing
the stamp of the State Election
Commission. So, Mr. Kelley's inter-
pretation is but the opinion of one
man who, in the past, has been
overruled on opinions dealing with
educational matters.
