With this year's dinner honor- ing Yeshiva University's 85th an- niversary, it underscores the uni- versity's adherence to its tradi- tion of never turning away, or re- jecting, for lack of funds, the ap- plication for admission of a worthy scholar. Many such one to four Year scholarships have been estab- lished by residents of the Detroit area. Partial scholarships may also be contributed. Goldin and Pollack emphasized that no solicitation of funds will take place at the dinner. Former Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas will deliver the main address at the dinner. Court of Appeals Judge Charles L. Levin will be the toastmaster. Shifra Stollman will present 85th anni- versary greetings from Yeshiva University President Dr. Samuel Belkin. Rabbi James I. Gordon, young Israel of Oak Woods, will offer the invocation. Dinner music will be provided by Eric Rosenow and his Continentals. Reservations for the dinner may be made through members of the committee, or by phoning 964.2330. Shifra Stollman will receive her degree, cum laude, at the 39th annual commencement exercises of Yeshiva University, Thursday, June 18th. One week later, on the night of June 25, Shifra, one of the newest alumna, and her father, Rabbi Dr. Samuel S. Stollman, an alumnus of Yeshiva University, to- gether with her mother, will be seated on the dais here. It will be the first public Detroit appear- ance of father and daughter as Yeshiva University graduates. Yeshiva University, which traces its origins to 1886 with the estab- lishment of Yeshiva Eitz Chaim and the founding of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Semi- nary, instituted annual academic commencements in 1932 when the first graduates of Yeshiva College, the undergraduate school of libe- ral arts and sciences for men, com- pleted their studies. Yeshiva University, America's oldest and largest university un- der Jewish auspices is now in its 85th year. Yeshiva University's main center is in Manhattan's Washington Heights, with three other major centers in Manhattan and the Bronx.
