UHS Student
6th in World
Bible Contest

Michael Peisner of Huntington
Woods, a graduating senior of the
United Hebrew Schools High
School, placed sixth in the Inter-
national Bible Contest in Jerusa-
lem, The Jewish News was in-
formed this week.
Twenty-eight students took part
in the first round of the contest,
held on Independence Day. Mich-
ael achieved a maximum score of
four points, tieing him for sixth
place with three other contest-
ants, who, like him had placed
high on the written test the night
before. The six highest scores
normally are called back for the
second round, but since four con-
testants were tied for sixth, only
the five highest scorers were call-
ed back.

Michael's father, attorney
Balfour Peisner, who accompan-
ied the boy to Israel, described
the great interest in the contest
throughout the country, where
it is heavily covered in the press
and on radio and television.
Michael received national rub-
Deity when he announced he
would try to answer some of
the questions in Russian.

To obtain entrance to the hall
where the contest was being held
required "all kinds of `protexia'
(pull)," Peisner said, because
everyone was seeking tickets.
Even Alichael's grandparents,
who live in Haifa, could not ob-
tain admission.
