conference on Jewish education
will be convened in Jerusalem
within the next year under the
auspices of the education and cul-
ture department of the Jewish
Agency for Israel, it was disclosed
here by Chaim Finkelstein, world
head of the Jewish Agency's de-
partment of education and culture.
Finkelstein, in the United States
on his first official visit since his
appointment as head of the de-
partment, made this disclosure at
a press conference.
The former Argentine educator,
who settled in Israel two years
ago, said the participants in the
conference will be Jewish educa-
tor, writers, and intellectuals from
throughout the world. "Improved
and intensified Jewish educational
programs," Finkelstein said, "is
the single most important aspect
of our fight against Jewish as-
similation and indifference."
