El AI Recommends
Booklet on Customs

One of the most helpful travel-
er's aids, according to El Al Israel
Airlines, is a booklet prepared by
the U.S. Customs Service, "Know
Before You Go." The 24-page
pamphlet, which enumerates cus-
toms privileges and restrictions, is
available free of charge from the
office of the district director of
customs.
The booklet of customs hints dis-
cusses a wide range of items —
from antiques to automobiles —
providing valuable information on
such popular tourist purchases as
perfume, cigars, cigarettes and al-
coholic beverages.
There's a section devoted to "Im-
portations in Excess of Your
Exemption" as well as a detailed
discussion of "How to Shit, Tourist
Purchases." Another important
section is the one devoted to S10
gift purchases that can be mailed,
duty-free, to friends and relatives
in the United States and, of par-
ticular interest, there's an informa-
tive paragraph concerning trade-
marked articles.
For complete information, since
there are exceptions to many of
the customs rules and regulations,
or for answers to any specific
questions, contact the district di-
rector of customs or write to the
Commissioner of Customs, Wash-

ington, D.C.
