A memorial assembly, under the

Council of Orthodox Rabbis of De-
troit, is being called for noon Sun-
day at Cong. Mogen Avraham,
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, to honor
the memory of Rabbi Avruham
Yaffe.
A renowned Tal-
mudic scholar in
Israel, Rabbi
Yaffe died April

20.

Rabbi Yaffe,
who lived in Jer-
usalem during
the last four
years, inherited
leadership as a
yeshiva builder Rabbi Yaffe
from his teacher and father-in-
law, Rabbi Yoseph .Horowitz, who
founded the chain of Beth Joseph
Yeshivot, which numbered more
than 60 in many cities in Russia.
and Poland.

Scott Kabran, 18,
Shooting Victim

Scott Dennis Kabran, 18, died
May 8, one of the four victims in
an apartment shooting by the
father of a teen-age girl, who also
was killed.
Scott, son of Stanley Kabran,
15015 Curtis, attended CaSs Tech
High School and hoped to study
creative writing this fall at Oak-
land University.
He went to Howe Military Aca-
demy for his eighth, ninth and 10th
grades, but the youth came up
against some anti-Semitic feelings
at the school, where he was one
of the few Jewish students.
His father said he hopes to ful-
fill Scott's dream of having his
poetry published and start a fund
in the boy's name.
