Vocational Service Pleads:
Jobs for Students Urgently
Needed During This Summer

Robert A. Steinberg, chairman
of the summer job placement pro-
gram committee of the Jewish
Vocational Service, has issued an
urgent plea to employers to as-
sist in providing summer jobs for ,
students.
Declaring that it is "facing a
critical job market," the Voca-
tional Service "is combing Detroit
for summer vacation jobs for high
school and college students,"
Steinberg pointed to the type of
jobs that will be acceptable and

duting the coming months. He
stated:
"For college students a summer
job is the one big oportunity to
earn enough money to continue

"Without a summer of gainful
employment some students will
not be able to return to school in
the fall.

SHORT HILLS, N. J. — The
New Jersey Society of Architects
has cited Temple Bnai Jeshurun
here for outstanding design achieve-
ment in its 1969 design competi-
tion.
Temple Bnai Jeshurun was de-
signed by Pietro Belluschi and
Gruzen and Partners (formerly
Kelly and Gruzen) of New York
and New Jersey.
Commenting on the temple, the
jury indicated that " . . . It has a
sense of grandeur inside. There is

a composure on the exterior. It is
an excellent job. The scale of the
walls contrasts favorably with the
very careful detailing and scale of
the balustrades and stairways. The
problem that all synagogues have
of opening up the sanctuary into
other rooms seems to be well han-
dled. From the view of the en-
trance it must appear that you
have arrived at a piece that peo-
ple feel is important. In the church
field where the work has been gen-
erally mediocre, this is a welcome
accomplishment."
