State Representative Albert A.
Kramer, Democrat from the 67th
District, representing the cities of
Berkley, Oak Park, Royal Oak
Township and Southfield, announc-
ed that he would be a candidate
for election for the 15th District
senatorial seat being vacated by
Senator Sander M. Levin and that
he would not he a candidate for
re-election for his state represen-
tative scat.

Rep. Kramer, presently serving
his sixth year in the Michigan
House of Representatives, is chair-
man of the standing committee on
insurance. In that capacity, he was
responsible for the Michigan
statute which restrained the im-
proper cancellation of automobile
liability insurance and the recent-
ly adopted statute which creates
a blanket cover of protection for
policyholders who were insured
with an insurance company that
became insolvent. Beth of these
statutes, now a part of the law of
this state, were named Kramer
Acts.

A recently elected vice-chair-
man of the Conference of Insur-

ance Legislators, which include;
insurance legislators from all
states east of the Mississippi,

he will serve as convention
charman for the annual legis-
lative conference scheduled to
meet in Detroit in September.

Author of the proposal which
guaranteed Blue Cross protection
for retarded and physically handi-
capped dependent minors, he in-
troduced the original amendment
designed to give state support for
summer school programs for the
physically handicapped.
Kramer was also named chair-
man of a special committee on
psychological testing of students
which resulted in establishing up.
graded standards for testing in the
school and provided privacy safe-
guards relative to their evaluation
and interpretation. Recently he
was named chairman of the com-
mittee on programs for the gifted.
As a result of Kramer's efforts
in behalf of the retarded he was
the recipient of an "Award of
Merit" from the Oakland County
Association for the Retarded.
Kramer, 46, has been a practic-
ing attorney for 20 years. He lives
in Oak Park with his wife. Sedell,
and three children.

of Winthrop Ave. announce the en-
gagement of their daughter Harriet
to Alexander T. Ornstein, son of
Mrs. Martha Ornstein of Oldham
Rd., Southfield, and the late Dr.
Charles Ornstein. The bride-elect
attended Wayne State University.
Mr. Ornstein holds a bachelor's de-
gree from Washburn University,
Topeka, and is presently attending
Detroit College of Law. A July
wedding is planned.
The Jewish News regrets the
omission of Mrs. drnstein's name
from the announcement in last
week's paper.

Festive Religious
Program to Mark
Israel Anniversary

Religious groups and the reli-
gious Zionists are combining forces
to mark Israel's 22nd anniversary.
At 7 p.m., May 10, the Religious
Zionists of America Mizrachi-
Hapaoel Hamisrachi, Young Israel
of Greenfield, Young Israel of
Oak-Woods and Young Israel of
Northwest will hold a joint pro-
gram which will feature guests as
speakers and prayers. A festive
meal will follow the program to
be held at Young Israel of Oak-
Woods.
The detailed program planned
by a committee from the partici-
pating groups will be announved.
