Dr. Mandelbaum, Seminary President,
to Explore the 'Two Generations'
Dr. Bernard Alandelbaum, presi-
dent of the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America, will discuss
"The Tw-o Generations—Have They
Really Stopped Talking to Each
Other?" as the concluding lecture
in the Town Hall series sponsored
by Cong. Bnai Moshe, 8:15 p.m.
Sunday.
Dr. Mandelbaum, seminary pro-
fessor in Homiletics and associate
professor of Midrash, has served
as provost and earlier as dean of
students at the rabbinical school.
His critical edition of the Pesikta
d'Rab Kahana was published by
the seminary in 1962, he edited a
collection of essays, "Assignment
in Israel," published by Harper
and Row in 1960, and for the past
10 years he has been co-author of
the seminary's annual High Holy
Day Alessage. These messages
form the framework for Dr. Man-
delbaum's latest book, "Choose
Life," an anthology of wisdom,
published in 1968 by Random
House. He is presently engaged on
a volume of the letters and other
writings of Solomon Schechter, sec-
ond president of the seminary.
2,500 Essays Received in UJA Teen Contest
NEW YORK — Over 2,500
essays on "All Israel Is Respon-
sible, One for the Other" have
been received by the United Jew-
ish Appeal as entries in its nation-
wide teen-age essay contest.
Edward Ginsberg, general chair-
man and president of the UJA,
will head a panel of judges includ-
ing Sen. Jacob K. Javits of New
York; Theodore Bikel, the folk-
singer; Roger Kahn, author of
"The Passionate People," and Airs.
Edith Samuel, editor of the youth
publication "Keeping Posted."
A two-week, all-expense-paid
trip to Israel this summer will
be the prize for the young per-
son whose essay is judged as the
best entry. Private individuals
are sponsoring the cost of the
trip. Participants range in age

Board of Rabbis has called on all

to observe "Yom Hashoah," a
day of remembrance for the Six
