Mary Caplan, who gained na-
tional fame as a social worker
and as the organizer of the Moth-
ers' Clubs of Detroit, died Sunday
at age 87.

Bernard L. Goodman, attorney-

Mr. Goodman formerly was edi-
tor of the Michigan Law Review
and had been an instructor at the
University of Michigan.
Mr. Goodman, 18490 Adrian,
Southfield, was a native Detroiter.
He was a 1945 graduate of Central
High School, a graduate of the
troiv.r.sitv of Michilon in 1949 and
its law school in 1951.
He was admitted to practice
law before the U.S. Supreme Court
in 1952. Mr. Goodman was a mem
ber of the Michigan State, Oak-
land County and Detroit bar asso-
ciation. He was a member of Tem-
ple Israel ind past treasurer of
Temple Israel Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife, An-
ita; two daughters, Diane and
Brendp; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Gocdman; and a sister,
Lois, of California.
Sidney Samovitz, associated with
Kay's Apparel of Inkster and
Plymouth, died Monday at age 60.
Mr. Samovitz, 20628 Kensing-
ton, Southfield, was born in But-
ler, Pa. He was a member of Per-
fection Lodge of the Masons, De-
troit Consistory, Moslem Temple
and Cong. Adas Shalom.
He leaves his wife Mollie; two
sons, Herbert L. and Dr. Myron of
Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Paul
(Margaret) Rosett; and four
