Egyptian Fraud Revealed in Photos

Tuesday had been "dismantled."
Tekoah reported to Thant his
April 9 conclusion that the Egypt-
ians attempted to "distort and
conceal the nature of the military
target at Salahiye" 'to "mislead
world opinion."
In an earlier letter to Thant,
Tekoah declared that Israel re-
gretted any loss of life, but if
there were casualties, including
a number of youths, responsibility
lies with the Egyptian authorities
for having placed them in a dis-
tinctly military installation within
a zone of hostilities.
Ambassador Tekoah said the
target of the Israeli air raid was
the military installation at Sala-
hiye. He said that Egyptian au-
thorities later conducted foreign
newsmen to a hospital at El Hus-
seiniyeh, about 12 miles away and
refused to permit them to go to

TEL AVIV (JTA)—Defense Min-
ister Moshe Dayan produced what
he claimed was new photographic
evidence Tuesday night that Egypt
camouflaged a bombed-out mili-
tary installation so that it would
appear to -journalists that Israeli
jets had struck a school.
Gen. Dayan showed newsmen a
still-wet photoprint of the target
of the April 8 air raid which
Israel says was a military en-
campment near Salahiye in the
Nile Delta. He said huge bull-
dozers filled and covered trenches
and fox holes that surrounded the
target, and large military trucks
and oil tankers were driven off
and replaced by agricultural ma-
chinery.
Gen. Dayan said the Egyptians
constructed a cluster of
even
wooden sheds to give the appear-
ance that the target was an agri-
cultural school. Ile said the latest
photograph showed 13 sheds which
were not there when the target

after the bombing. Gen. Dayan
said it was five days and that
the Egyptians used the interval
for "frantic efforts, though not
%cry successful, to give it the
ima ge cf a civilian place."

He observed that seven hours
elapsed between the air action at

munique at 4 p.m. "Obviously this
long interval was needed to enable
the government of the UAR to
make up its mind how to present
its distortions to the outside
world," Ambassador Tekoah
wrote.
