Ten weeks from the date a fed-
eral income tax return calling for
a refund is mailed, the taxpayer
should have either his check or
a letter explaining why it is held
up, Thomas A. Cardoza, district
director of Internal 'Revenue for
Michigan said.
A taxpayer who has not heard
bout his refund should, therefore,
wait 10 weeks before writing IRS.
Most taxpayers will find their
inquiry unnecessary if they wait
this long, Cardoza said.
If it does become necessary to
write, the taxpayer should indi-
cate where and when he filed his
return and give his name, address
and Social Security number, Car-
doza said.
