Mizrachi Youth Hits Ex-Parent Body
for 'Anti-Ahya Policies', Raps Poupko

NEW YORK Denouncing what
it calls the "anti-aliya policies" of
its former adult affiliate, the Miz-
rachi Hatzair Religious Youth and
Students' Organization s ha r y
criticized remarks by Rabbi Ber-
nard I'oupko, president of the
American Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizd
rachi (Religious Zionists of Amer-'
lea), in a recent interview with the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Rabbi I'oupko had announced a
reorganization of RZA youth activi-
ties, including a youth organization
"for Jewish youth expecting to
spend their lives in the American
Jewish community."

Decrying what it called "the
duplicity and hypocrisy of the
RZA as regards Israel's wel-
fare," the Mizrachi Ilatzair youth
group deplored "the willingness
of the Zionist establishment" to
assist the RZA in youth activities
"conducted without pretense of
intent to supply Israel with
olim."
The former youth affiliate of the

RZA declared that the RZA presi-
dent "does not speak for Mizrachi
llatzair." Mizrachi Ilatzair is sep-
arately incorporated and is not a

youth movement of the RZA, the

statement stressed.
Labeling as "public relations
copy" a program announced by
Rabbi Poupko for the RZA to work
with campus and radical student
groups. the statement stated that
"anyone familiar with the .repres-
sive and paternalistic policies of
the RZA, which ruptured ties with
Mizrachi four years ago, knows the

Mizrachi Ilatzair, Inc., establish-
