PEOPLE

People are what it is all about. People are the

world ... Detroit ... the United States . . . the Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel Emergency Fund.

People are the beginning and the end of fund-
raising efforts of Detroit Jewry.

You are the beginning . . . the donors, the

givers, the lucky ones.

The people pictured in this special supplement

to The Jewish News are a sample of the reason ...

the needy...the helpless... but they are lucky, too.

They have you.

Sometimes in the bigness of things the statis-

tics on the meetings...the solicitations for pledges

...the real reason for an Allied Jewish Campaign

—Israel Emergency Fund is dimmed.

Here is the widowed mother in Israel who can

work because you provided a day care center for

her children.

The elderly gentleman who will live out his
life in dignity and comfort because you provided
a home.

The little boy in a North African slum who

will not go hungry today because you gave him

She would like to grow up with hope and happiness. A very little
girl in Iran looks to you for help in health, education, food.

a hot meal this noon.

The young are helpless without you!

These are the reasons.

"PEOPLE!"

Our future rests with them. We cannot give
too much—love, education, a secure
family life, help with their problems should
they need it. Many services- which you
support do this for many of our children.

Israel is a land with room for
the old and the new. The Law
of Return gives full citizenship
to these young children from
Arab countries so that they will
know a future . . . for the
grandfather, there is the
knowledge that the future gener-
ations are safe.

Children of a kibbutz in Bet
Shean Valley in Israel play and
sleep in these bomb shelters
which protect them from enemy,
Shells. But, children should not
have to live this way. By
helping support welfare serv-
ices you keep Israel strong and
hasten the day of real peace.

The mysteries of chess are the
same the world over whether
they are discovered at the Jewish
Community Center in Detroit,
Michigan, United States of
America or at a summer fresh air
camp in Shiraz. Iran. You may
help supply the chance to learn
in both places.
