East has been sent jointly by the
archbishop of Philadelphia, John
Cardinal Krol; the president of
the Philadelphia Board of Rabbis,

Copies of the open letter were
also sent to President Nixon, Sec-
retary of State William P. Rogers

All his life, David Genadenhof
has lived in the small Polish town
of Tychy. Three times, Genaden-
hof, his wife Ann and his daughter
Danuta tried to get passports so
they might poin David's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Greenbaum,
who live in Flint. Three times
they were turned down by the
Polish government.
Last week their wish became
reality. The story behind that re-
union, even that part that can be
told, is a lesson in freedom.
After two years of work by the
Flint Jewish Community Council
and the worldwide Hebrew Immi-
grant Aid Society, the necessary
arrangements, contacts, visas and
transfers were complete.
Finally, a stateless passport was
arranged for the Genadenhofs to
get out of Poland and into Israel.
Now without citizenship, they
spent a period in Vienna and five
months in Rome waiting for an
American visa. It finally arrived
and the family left for the United
States.
An electronics technician, Gen-
adenhof plans to live in Flint as
the family applies for American
citizenship.
