Signing the financial agree-
ment for the two agencies were
Louis Broido, JDC chairman,
Dr. William Haber, president of
American ORT Federation, and
Max A. Braude, ORT director-
general.

The new pact is the 24th con-
secutive annual understanding be-
tween the two agencies. JDC has
made $38,118,000 available to ORT
in the past 23 years to assist the
vocational training of over 500,000
persons.
The new agreement specifies
that the American ORT Federation
will refrain from conducting in-
dependent fund-raising campaigns I
in the United States. However,
ORT will continue its membership
activities.
Vocational training assistance
through ORT represents one aspect
of JDC's overseas programs. In
1970, JDC will require over $24,-
000,000 to provide welfare and re-
habilitation services for hundreds
of thousands of needy Jews in over
25 countries around the world.

UN Rights Commission
Eyes Measures to Be
Taken Against Nazism

UNITED NATIONS (JTA) — The
Un it e d Nations Commission on
Human Rights has begun discus-
sion of measures to be taken
against Nazism and racial intoler-
ance. Previously, the commission
had adopted two resolutions on
racial discrimination, one denounc-
ing the apartheid policy of South
Africa and the other calling for a
comprehensive review of measures
and decisions taken to eliminate
racial discrimination to evaluate
their effectiveness.
Marc Schreiber, director of the
UN division of human rights, re-
ported to the session that 11 gov-
ernments had signed and ratified
the convention on the statute of
limitations for punishment of war
crimes and crimes against human-
ity.
The convention was opened to
signature in 1968. The war crimes
question is on the agenda for the
current session of the commission.
