Mrs. Leonard H. Weiner of Detroit, president of the Nationa
Council of Jewish Women, this week presented Mrs. Richard Nixon
with a painting of the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The painting was
done by Ruthie Mazur, a student artist at the Hebrew University High
School, built by the NCJW some years ago. The presentation was made
at the White House prior to a tea Mrs. Nixon gave for the Council in
the state dining room. Mrs. Weiner introduced to Mrs. Nixon the 325
national officers and other Council leaders representing 101 cities
throughout the U.S. who were attending the 15th annual Washington
Institute. Other women from Detroit included Mrs. Steven Rose, public
affairs chairman for Detroit Section of Council; Mrs. Gabriel Alexander,
finance chairman of Detroit Section; Mrs. Jerome Grossman, on the
national board; and Mrs. Jerome Sonenklar, assistant to the vice
president for community services, Greater Detroit Section of Council.
Married Jan. 23, Mr. and Mrs. Max Jaffe of Rosewood Ave., Oak
Park, honeymooned at the King's Inn and Golf Club, Freeport, Grand
Bahama Island.
Cantor and Mrs. A. A. Rosenfeld of Kipling Ave. Oak Park, were
honored by their families recently on their 45th wedding anniversary. A
dinner was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sigmond Rossman when
45 trees were planted for the Jewish National Fund in their honor.
