TAKE THE FAMILY
OUT TO DINNER AND.A.SHOW _
IT WAS CALLED "The New
Temple" when organized four
years ago without a name . . . and
as of this month is known as
Temple Kol Ami . . . Land has
been purchased on Walnut Lake
Rd., west of Farmington Rd. for a
new building . . . The 115 families
(it started out with only seven
members!) now meet at the Bloom-
field Unitarian Church on Wood-
ward, with the religious school at
West Bloomfield High School . .
Gail Hollander (Burton) is writer
and director of the follies which
will be part of Temple Kol Ami's
Purim Carnival, March 22, 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m. at the high school on
Orchard Lake Rd. north of Maple
. . . It'll feature Oak Park Court
Clerk Myra Richardson doing a
parody on "Hello Dolly" . New-
ly elected secretary of the temple,
Myra's bit is called "Hello Goldie"
. . . Call Gail for tickets, 542-3001
Howard Green is president.
THANKS TO . . . Jimmie Laker
for the photo sent us last week
taken with orchestra great Earl
"Fatha" Hines at a bond rally by
Louis Marshall Bnai Brith Lodge
during World War II . . . Jimmie
has sent hundreds of copies of
other photos to friends ... pictures
they had long forgotten, and the
wonderful past memories have
brought much appreciated re-
sponse.
MARLIN SANDERS, seven-year-
old son of Ida and Jack Sanders,
became thirsty, or thought he did
. . . He called out, "Mom, I wan-
na' drink" . . . Ida told him to ,go
to sleep . . . Marlin grunted, turn-
ed over and was silent for 10 min-
utes . . . then again, "Mom, I
wanna' drink" . . . And again Ida
told him to go to sleep . . . An-
other 10 minutes of intense silence,
then, "Mom, I wanna' drink" . . .
This time, Ida said that if he didn't
go to sleep, she would come in
and spank him . . . More silence,
but just for about two minutes,
and then, "Mom, when you come
in to spank me, bring me a drink,
will you?"
VERA BRODE is kidney ma-
chine chairman and Evelyn Roth
Infants Service Group president
. . . The group's annual Cherub
Ball dinner-dance and show is
March 22 at Latin Quarter.
CALLING LEO KAPLAN . . .
Remember back toward the end
of summer in 1960 when you
broke your elbow while playing
softball at the Bert School field
and wore a cast for six weeks? ...
When summer of 1961 came, your
wife Shirley warned you not to
play any ball yet, and even Dr.
Harold Gehring, told you to take it
easy . . . the first game of the
season came, and sneaking out of
the house without Shirley know-
ing, you were back at your
shortstop position at the same
Bert field ... The first ball pitch-
ed came straight at you ... You
stuck out your bare hand and that
was it—back in the cast you went
. . . This time, Leo, you started
the season with it on!
LAST WEEK, Marion Kepes
told five-year-old daughter Linda
that she wanted to take a nap and
to please not slam the door when
she went out. . . Later Marion
overheard little Linda tell her
friend, "You close the door, Suzie,
you make a quieter noise than I
do!"
The imagination imitates; it is
the critical spirit that createS.—
