Seryirr . the World's Finest Stea, ta Chcipi and Sea Foods for 4 T A BEAUTIFUL, MOST heart warming day spent was that as a Shriner with the Crescent Shrine Club at the Shrine Circus . . . We were one of about 45 members who "worked" the day in showing a good time to 900 youngsters from Children's Leukemia Foundation, Parke Elementary, Keidan Eleme- tary, Fairbank Elementary, Hillel Day School, Quant Elementary in Allen Park, Pattengill Elementary, Lincoln Junior High in Warren, Sanders Elementary and Clinton Elementary . . . Many of the 900 were members of Government Funded Model Cities Schools, vic- tims of leukemia, crippled children, indigent youngsters and kinder- garten kiddies . . . The eight-man steering committee consisted of Dave Draznin, chairman, Al Kan- fer, Lester Rosenberg, Jack Shenk- man, Max Haidy, Ruby Samson, Sid Robbins and Al Perlmutter .. . Others helping included Harry Weitzman, president of Crescent Shrine Club and Percy Swartz, im- mediate past president .. . Whats a circus without ice cream, carmel- corn, -pop and hot dogs . . . and thats what the Crescent men had for all their young guests, plus a little package of goodies to take back with them . . . Too bad we can't name every guy who helped —they sure deserve it—but leaving out even one name would be a gross injustice to the magnificent job done by everyone . . . The members of Crescent Shrine Club who worked at the Shrine Circus Feb. 12, all rested mighty well that night! CPA SAM WILSON, a former Internal Revenue man himself, tells about the tax collector exam- ining the books of a defiant, but slightly worried supermarket pro- prietor when the clerk, climbing aloft to fetch a can of preserved peaches, upset a whole pyramid of the merchandise . . . Cans came tumbling down on the tax collec- tor's noggin, sending him sprawl- ing to the ground . . . "Be careful, you fool," cried the proprietor. Supposing that had been a custom- er!" The Infants Service Group's an- nual Cherub Ball dinner-dance and show will be March 22 at Latin Quarter, puropse to again raise funds for its many very worthy projects. MARVIN FRANKEL, Oak Park municipal judge, is a true example of how a judge should be . . . Un- like so many others, Marvin ex- plains right from wrong and why when meting out judgment in his court room . . . This, so many times, is much more important than the punishment . . . Those who care hopefully profit from such knowledge. ERIC AND ANNE ROSENOW are having a reunion in Israel with former fellow dwellers of the Shanghai Ghetto ... The Rosenows were in Shanghai during World War II, when it was occupied by the Japanese forces ... They came there from Germany during the Hitler era and have lived in De- troit since 1948 ... Before leaving for Israel Feb. 15, the Rosenows wired an ad to the Jerusalem Post asking former members of the Shanghai community living in Is- rael to meet them at their hotel in Tel Aviv, where a dinner was ar- ranged. One thing I am coming to learn in this world, and that is to let people haggle along with their lives as I haggle along with mine. —David- Grayson -
