Partnership With Hebrew University

NEW YORK—"The Great Dic-
tionary of the Yiddish Langue" will
henceforth be the joint venture of
the Yiddish Dictionary Committee
in New York and the Hebrew Uni-
versity in Jerusalem.
The announcement of the joint
undertaking was made by Dr. Ger-
shon Winer, chairman of the Yid-
dish Dictionary Committee, on his
return from Israel.
Dr. Winer also reported on the
formation of the Israel Committee
for the Dictionary, with President
Zalman Shazar as honorary chair-
man and a number of academic-
ians as participants.
Plans agreed upon by repre-
sentatives of the university and
the committee provide for the
transfer to Jerusalem of Dr.
Yodel Mark, bead of the editor-
ial board, and several research
assistants who will continue their
work ea the dictionary at the In-
stitute of Jewish Studies of the
Hebrew University.
In New York, the Yiddish Lexi-
cological Institute at the City
University will engage a larger
staff to assist in the preparation
of material for inclusion in forth-
coming volumes of the dictionary.
