"EDDIE" EDWARDS
Our Famous French Chef

THIS MONDAY IS OPENING of
Rib 'n Hastak, that carry out and
delivery spot I told you about on
12 Mile Rd., 1,4. block east of Green-
field in Berkley . . . Choice goodies
by French chef Eddie Edwards,
include regular barbecue ribs, lamb
ribs, spaghetti, White Fish Car-
dinale and other delicious gourmet
dishes made with wine sauce . . .
Rib 'n Hastak is something entire-
ly different in carry out and de-
livery!

SANDY MOFFET T, versatile
bombshell warbler from New Zea-
land who has been hitting it big
around these parts, leaves for en-
gagements around the country . . .
but returns to the Elmwood in May.

TELLING OF the "family affair"
at Max's Deli on Southfield and
12 Mile in Country Corners, I men-
tioned Max, wife Belle and son
Steve, but owe a big apology to
their sweet daughter Jackie . . .
She does her share too at the deli
and makes up a wonderful Horen-
stein family foursome.

THREE OTHER GENTS beside
Iry Kahn make up the good food
staff at original Esquire Delicates-
sen-Restaurant in Harvard Row on
11 Mile and Lahser . Short order
chefs Boyd Proctor and Bob Wim-
ble and kitchen chef Elias Kara-
vidas .. . These men handle their
responsibilities with real pro-man-
ship!

OVERHEARD AT . . . HUGO'S
"A cannibal — that's a guy who
loves his fellow man—with gravy!"
. . . NORTHGATE DELICATES-
SEN, "A bachelor is a man who
never makes the same mistake
once." . . MING PALACE in
Northland, "He's so cheap that the
only time he'll pick up a check is
when it's made out to him." . . .
CLAM SHOP, "A bird in the hand
is bad t a b l e manners." . . .
BILLY'S, "The best way to stop
that noise in your ear is to let her
drive." ... PROVINCIAL HOUSE,
"He embarrassed us—he drank his
soup and six couples got up and
danced."

THE NAME IS MARTY, not Mary
Horowitz, as typo-errata'd in last
week's bit.

where they tell you just five or 10
minutes, but you aren't seated for
at least half an hour and more .. .
Rascal House bossmen Jack Mey-
ers and Al Hacker recognize the
important factor that courtesy
begins even before a customer
enters their eatery — and so the
excellent sign idea on the roof!

LARRY SANTO at the Afterglow
on W. McNichols is one of the most
sensational singers to appear in
this area . . . including "name"
artists . . . Don't miss him—he's
a very sure bet to hit the top rung
on the ladder of show business.
