Bar Mitzva Project Outcry Unit Plans Soviet Jewry Program The Jewish Youth Council's Project Outcry 1970 committee, which met last week at the Jewish Center, has made tentative plans for a program on Soviet Jewry in May that would draw participa- tion of all Jewish Youth Groups. An event for the entire community will take place near Simhat Torah, in late October. Co-chairmen for Project Outcry 1970 are Dennis Eisenberg of Young Israel NCSY, Project Out- cry 1969 chairman Fran Pfeffer of Adas Shalom USY and Chuck Kell- man of Bnai Moshe USY. Other committee members are from Bnai David, Beth Shalom, Beth Moses, Beth Achim and Livonia youth groups and Young Dancers Guild. Youth Council coordinator Joel Verbin reported to the group that petitions signed during Project Outcry 1969 did make an impres- sion on Soviet officials in the Wash- ington Embassy. Petitions coming from Detroit—far from New York City—were something out of the ordinary to the Soviet officials, it was reported to Verbin by Yaram Dinstein, consul general of Israel.
