Jose Winsen, Detroit jewelry
craftsman and founder of the Jose
Winsen Co., died Sunday in Miami
t Beach, where he had lived since
1957. He was 80.
Born in Russia, Mr. Winsen
moved to Detroit from Washing-
' ton, D.C. in 1916, shortly there-
' after founding the jewelry com-
pany. He was affiliated with Tem-
ple Beth El, Bnai Brith and High-
land Park Lodge of the Masons, of
which he was a life member. A pa-
tron of the Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra for many years, he was ac-
tive in the Allied Jewish Campaign
here and worked on the UJA cam-
paign in Miami.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; a
son, Robert of Oak Park; a daugh-
ter, Beatrice Goldstein of Los An-
geles; and seven grandchildren.
