note that Jews may be found
among the radicals of the new
left who have complicated the
government's efforts in Vietnam.
But this is rejected by all those
sophisticated enough to dis-
tinguish between the generally
pro-Arab extremists of the left
and the solid citizens behind Is-
rael.
The Republican National Com-
mittee is concerned. Warren Ad-
er, a prominent Washington ad-
vertising man, the committee's
special consultant on Jewish af-
fairs, is seeking greater accept-
ance of Republican principles
among Jews. He feels that a
significant number of Jews are
rethinking affiliations of many
years ago in view of the new situa-
tion at home and abroad. He has
arranged expanded contacts be-
tween Jewish organizations and
the administration.
Israel has activated much new
support by its courageous audac-
ity in the French gunboat escap-

ade and the "liberation" of the
Soviet radar station. This appealed
to the American imagination. Mil-
lions of non-Jews are convinced
that a country fighting for a real

chance to win. It may be that
