Einstein Dinner-Dance in Plan Stage

Services Appeal Campaign Near Goal,
Will Culminate With Dinner-Dance

With the conclusion of the 1969
Bnai Brith Services Appeal in
sight, a dinner-dance will be held
6:30 p.m. Sunday at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek.

nual direct solici-
tation campaign
were announced
by Pa ul Perry
and Mrs. Robert
Ellis, co-chair-
men of the ap-
peal. "We are im-
pressed," they
said, "b y the Miss O'Brien
number of lodges and chapters
who have to date met in full their
commitments and know this num-
ber will grow, enabling us to re-
port that our goal of $250,000 has
been reached."
The Services Appeal is a com-
bined effort of the 25 lodges and
25 chapters of Bnai Brith in Metro-
politan Detroit. The two councils
are headed by presidents Herman
Kasoff and Mrs. Allen Weitzman.
Sami O'Brien, 21-year-old enter-
tainer, will highlight the Sunday
program. Miss O'Brien, a Brooklyn
native whose real name is Dora
Rubin, has appeared at the San
Jeronimo Hilton in Puerto Rico
and the Hotel Fontainebleau in
Miami, among other leading sup-
per clubs in the U.S. and Canada.
Earl Wechter, past president of
District Grand Lodge 6 and chair-
man of the district administrative
committee, will make presentations
to several Bnai Brith men and
women for their activities on be-
half of the fund campaign.
Honorees include Louis Berry.
who served as honorary chairman
of the men's council special gifts
campaign; Adolph Goldberg; Irv-
ing Goldberg; Louis Hamburger;

Samuel Hamburger; and Phillip
Skillman, honorary vice chairman
of the special gifts portion of the
drive; Mrs. Alan Nathan, special
gifts chairman for the women; and
Mrs. Joseph Frenkel.
The dinner-dance is open to all
contributors of S25 or more and
solicitors who have raised a mini-
of $100. Arthur C. Schott and Mrs.
Harold Robinson are co-chairmen
for the culminating event.

month after more than four de-
cades of continuous service. Dur-
ing that time-460 editions—The
NJM quadrupled its readership
to 214,000, one of the largest Jew-
ish publications in the world, and
added to its coverage of reli-
gious, cultural and historic
topics contemporary and inter-
pretive articles reflecting the
changing concerns in Jewish life.
Grusd also authored a history of
Bnai Brith.
