Guest speaker will be Libby Hillman, I , gourmet cook and ' • authoress • Nationally known gourmet cook and authoress Libby Hillman will appear at the Eye Bank Gala pre- sented by the Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of Iladassah 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Cong. Bnai David. Mrs. Hillman, author of "Les- sons in Gourmet Cooking" and "The Menu Cookbook for Enter- taining," will give a cooking dem- onstration and lecture, utilizing - a fully equipped electric kitchen and several large closed circuit TV monitors. The program, "Company Dinner for Four or Forty," will he presented to Iladassah members and their friends, Mrs. Leo Keeps, chairman of the day, stated. Admission to this event will be one filled Eye Bank or a compar- able contribution to be used for eye research and treatment in Israel. One eye bank or $6 will cure one eye of blindness: two eye banks or $12 will cure both eyes. One of the most commbon causes of blindness in the Middle East, trachoma, hal been virtually elim- inated. However, when the new wave of immigrants from eastern lands arrived they brought many children suffering from this dis- ease. The fight against eye disease has been renewed with anti-Ira- 'choma mobile units traveling around Jerusalem and suburbs to examine the eyes of children and to treat cases they discover. Chapter eye bank co-chairmen are Mrs. Richard Rosenthal and Mrs. Erwin Eichen. Each of the 17 groups of Iladassah's Metro- politan Detroit Chapter has its own chairmen who may be con- tacted prior to the event.
