dent of the Junior Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation, was
named winner of the 1969 William
H. Boesky Memorial Award for
young leadership. Alan E.
Schwartz, Federation president,
made the presentation.
Nachman, an attorney with the
firm of Hyman, Gurwin, Nachman
and Friedman, served the Junior
Division in the past as co-chairman
of its community service commit-
tee, a member of its executive com-
mittee, chairman of its speakers
bureau, and its representative on
the boards of the Jewish Commun-
ity Council and the Federation
Community Relations Division.

year's recipient is granted funds
to attend the young leadership

to study the question of licensing
of Hebrew teachers was announc-
ed this week by the Federation of
Hebrew School Teachers of Metro-
politan Detroit.

The annual five-day convention
of the Michigan Region Bnai Brith
Youth Organization commenced
Wednesday at the Jewish Center
with 350 delegates representing 50
chapters throughout the state of
Michigan and Windsor.
The convention includes discus.
sions, lectures and resolutions re-
lated to the theme, "As Jewish
Youth: What Touches Us?" The
youth coordinators are Shirley Dan,
Ned Oistachet and Sylvia Asa of
Windsor.

Louis Levitan, director of the
Detroit Israel Bond office, will
keynote the sessions today, and
the oneg Shabat will center on a
workshop demonstration in Is-
raeli dance by the Detroit Young
Dancers Guild, under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Harriet Berg.

Larry Hutcheson, assistant direc-
tor, Northwest Interfaith Center
for Racial Justice, will keynote the
Sunday sessions.
The convention closing program
will be addressed by the Metropoli-
tan Detroit Bnai Brith and Wom-
en's Council presidents, Herman
Kaso , and Mrs. Allen Weitzman.
Julius Kahn, chairman of the Mich-
igan Region BBYO board of direc-
tors, will deliver the closing ad-
dress.
