An equal opportunity employer

The second volume contains the
largest selection in print of stage
settings from this period, 393 clear
photographs and drawings showing
preparatory sketches, and import-
ant settings. Included arc Stanis-
laysky's Ibsen and Chekhov work,
Reinhardt's "Merchant of Venice,"
Czeschka and Reinhardt's "King
Lear," Appia's "Tristan and Isol-
de," Geddes' "Lazarus Laughed,"
and works on nearly 100 other de-
signers and producers. Because
settings are virtually indescrib-
able, these illustrations are the
indespensible record of early 20th-
century stage decoration for student
and teachers, actors and directors.
An introduction by Adolphe Appia
and a table of designers complete
this valuable republication of the
original 1929 edition.
