at Biological Seminar

Paul Broder was re-elected pres-
ident of the Detroit Service Group
of the Jewish Welfare Federation
at the biennial meeting held at the
Jewkh Center.
Warren I). Greenstone was elect-
ed a vice president, and Lewis S.

were re-elected vice presidents.
Also returned to the offices they
held for the past two years were:
George D. Keil, chairman of the
board: Louis C. Blumberg, vice
chairman of the board, and Max
M. Shaye, chairman of the exe:'u-
tive committee.

Miller will serve as representa-
tives from the Detroit Service
Group to the board of governors
of the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion.

The Service Group is the year-
round organization of Allied Jew-
ish Campaign-Israel Emergency
Fund workers, and is responsible
for the continuous operation of the
campaign. It sponsors an annual
Stag Day which brings together
the workers for a day of good fel-
lowship in the fall.
It also sponsors the annual Israel
Survey Tour, which this year went
to Israel in October to discuss with
government officials the needs of
Israel and to see the work of the
service agencies.

Slotkin (left), Detroit business leader, made a contribution
of live stock including prize registered Angus bulls to the United
Israel Appeal, Inc., as the initial step in assembling a 100-head herd
of cattle for Israel. The agreement which includes "the care, breed-
ing, cross.breeding and other experimental activity respecting the
cattle" was signed by Max M. Fisher, president of the United Israel
Appeal (center) and William Avrunin, executive vice-president of the
Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit, at the United Israel Appeal
office in New York City. The project was developed over a period of
several months and included the participation of Max M. Shaye of
Detroit, Gottlieb Hammer, executive vice chairman of the United
Israel Appeal, Moshe Palmon, of the agricultural department of the
Jewish
Agency, and Dr. Bruce R. Taylor, head of the animal science

department of the University of Arizona.
