Spain on the expulsion of the
Jews in 1492. Very possibly, like
so many more of the exiles, he
found his way first to Italy,
which explains the fact that he
uses the Italian language for
the legends in his maps.
From Italy he made his way to
Egypt, where the European art of
map-making was barely known

1497 he was in Alexandria, where
he made the Vatican map, perhaps
for some member of the Venetian
trading colony. He continued
active there for some time, until
he executed in 1500 the map now
at the college-institute. There-
after, he migrated to the Holy
Land where he lived in Safed.
There are many interesting
points to this map. The name of
the mythical island of Brasil, for

Penn St. Students Direct
Jewish Radio Programs

PITTSBURGH (JTA) — A group
of Hillel members at Penn State
University are providing a lively
blend of Jewish comedy, music,
history, discussion and drama on
the university's student radio sta-
tion every Sunday night in formats
limited only by the ingenuity of the
students. Bill Borkon and Ed
Rosenzweig, both seniors, who di-
rect the program, told the Jewish
Chronicle of Pittsburgh that "We
want to get the idea across that its
fun to be Jewish."
Originally, they said, the Hillel
Foundation sponsored a program
on a local commercial station for
six to seven years, until about
1953. Then some sutdents proposed
a Jewish series on the university
station.
Programing is highly informal.
For a discussion-type program, the
students simply start out with
some questions. Some programs
are prepared specifically for Jew-
ish holidays. As one of the musical
offerings, the students mentioned
"The World Keeps Rolling," writ-
ten by Gordon Kingsley for a rock
Sabbath service.

defense attorney, Dr. Hans :Weiser.
Italian-inn is charged with fatally
shooting one of four Arab terrorists
during an attack on an Israeli air-
liner at Zurich Airport last Feb. 18.
The defense counsel charged
earlier that the Zurich police and
judiciary have not acted imparti-
ally so far in the trial.
Rahamim is on trial for man-
slaughter and faces a five-year
prison term. The case hinges on
whether or not the terrorist was
armed at the moment he was shot
by the accused. Several Zurich po-
lice officers have testified in court
that he was not. Meiser contends
that their testimony contradicted
statements they made during the
pretrial investigation. Ile called a
press conference here to accuse
the presiding judge. Dr. flans Gut,
of refusing to allow him to call a
key witness who would have testi,
tied that the chief prosecution wit-
ness had lied.
According to Meiser. his witness,
Max Meyer, was prepared to swear
that the prosecution's witness,
Hans Durr, had told him on the
day of the attack that the terrorist
was brandishing a weapon when
Rahamim shot him. Meiser said
that if Dr. Gut had allowed him to
call his witness, he was prepared to
file a complaint of perjury against
Durr and against another cantonal
police officer, Hans Struh. Meiser
said he planned to write a book
after the trial in which he would
place Zurich police and judiciary
"in the dock."
Earlier, Shal Rosolio, command-
er of the Israeli police force in
Jerusalem, appeared before the
court in Winterthur to testify on
Arab terrorist methods. He describ-
ed terrorist acts against unarmed
civilians. He said Rahamim could
not have known the intention of
the man he shot when he held a
gun.
