NEW YORK -- A five-year plan
which would add 50 new elemen-
tary Hebrew day schools and 20
regional high schools and increase
day school enrollment from the
present 80,000 to 110,000 was an-
nounced Sunday by Torah Ume-
sorah, the National Society of He-
brew Day Schools, at its 26th an-
nual dinner at the New York Hil-
ton.
Samuel C. Feuerstein, national
president, said "There are current-
ly 362 day schools in the United
States and 43 more in Canada, and
we are happy with the gains we
have recorded in the first quarter
century of our existence." "How-
ever," he continued, "there are
still 25 communities with a Jewish
population of 5,000-15,000 which do
not as yet have Hebrew day
schools, and it is these communi-
ties which are our target areas for
the next five years."

TOLEDO (JTA) — The Play-
wright Award of the Indiana Uni-

The Dan Hotel Corporation is
preparing to build new facilities
which will increase the amount of
hotel rooms in Israel by 750. The
company owns and operates the
King David Hotel in Jerusalem,
the Dan in Tel Aviv, the Dan Car-
mel in Haifa, and the Accadia in
Herzlia.
The King David Hotel will get a
new 200-room annex at a cost of
approximately $4,000,000.
A swimming pool and a shopping
arcade will be added to the Tel
Aviv Dan Hotel. Plans for a 300
room tower adjacent to the Dan
are under consideration.
In Haifa, the company is plan-
ning to construct an "A" class
facility of 300 rooms, located atop
Mount Carmel, not far from the
Dan Carmel.

TEL AVIV — Immigrants and
local businessmen who invest in a
business in Israel will be able to
seek a guarantee on at least part
of their investment from the In-
vestment Guarantee Corp. Ltd., a
private company sponsored by Sir
Isaac Wolfson of the United King-
dom and other prominent Jewish
business leaders from a number
of countries.
The guarantee intends to foster
the existence of the business until
it becomes viable.
In general, the guarantee pro-
gram of the corporation aims to
insure against economic failure or
loss of any investment in the
course of normal business opera-
tions. A single guarantee can cover
up to 75 per cent of an investment,
or $50,000, whichever is lower.

vice-president of the Toledo Jew-
ish Community Center, for his
play, "Relatives and Friends." The
play was produced two years ago
at the center. He also was hon-
ored for "All Other Pleasures," a
new play to be presented at the
center in December. The award
judges suggested that the new
work might be put into novel form.
Two other Miller plays on Jewish
themes, "The Wedding" and
"Back to the Store," also have
been presented at the center. The
plays have been effective in fund-
raising campaigns of the center
