French Embargo Holds Up Delivery of Boats to Israel PARIS — The authoritative French naval annual "Combat Fleets 1970" reports that France is holding up the delivery of five high-speed, rocket-carrying patrol ; boats. The boats come under the same two-year-old arms embargo that is holding up the delivery of 50 supersonic Mirage-5 jet fighters, ordered and paid for by Israel be- fore the Six-Day War. Of an original order for 12 , vessels, seven have been de- livered to Israel. The other five remain in the Cherbourg yard where they were built. The 250- ton boats are equipped with Is- rael-designed "Gabriel" sea-to- sea rockets. The hook said the patrol boats are capable of speeds up to 40 knots and have a maximum range of 2.000 sea miles. They are com- parable to the Soviet-made OSA patrol boats used by the Egyptian navy, one of which sank the Is- raeli destroyer Eilath in October 1967. Israel Accounts for Juicy 25 Pct. of Citrus to Europe From Mediterranean LONDON (JTA)—Israel is ex- pected to account for 25 per cent of the total citrus production of the Mediterranean area shipped to European markets during the 1969- 70 citrus season, the Jewish Tele- graphic Agency was told Wednes- day by the European director of the Israel Citrus Marketing Board. Moshe Levin said that based on past experience, Israel will be sending 725.000 tons of citrus to Europe out of an expected total of 3,000,000 tons from all citrus-pro- ducing countries in the Mediterran- ean. Levin said there was every rea- son to expect a "fair" season. He said that prices were good at the start but have been dropping owing to an abundant supply from Israel. Cyprus, Morocco, Spain and Hon- duras. He said Israel is expected to ship 41,000,000 containers of var- I ious citrus fruits to Europe this season, plus another 4.000,000 con- tainers from the Gaza Strip.
