Senior Adults Thanked
by Astronauts for Prayer

The prayers and good wishes of
the senior citizens of Flint went to
the moon with astronauts Neil
Armstrong, Michael Collins and
Edwin Aldrin Jr. But a reply from
the trio came from earth.
One of the founders of the Jew-
ish Community • Council's senior
adult group, Joseph Lam, penned
the prayer, the concluding por-
tion of which read:
"0 God, may, Thy mercy. never
forsake me during this perilous
voyage. As Thou didst safely carry
the ark of Noah through the
mighty waters of the flood, so
mayest Thou guide this space cap-
sule that carries me and my corn-
minions; • surround it with Thine
almighty protection that it may be
borne upon the wings of soft and
favorable breezes and lead us safe
and unharmed to the destination
wither we are bound. Amen." -
The astronauts' reply, voicing
hopes for "a new era of peace
and comm on understanding,"
thanked "those of you who have
offered encouragement and good
wishes, whose dedication and sup-
port has made our program pos-
sible, and whose prayers have
sustained us."

bert Rubenstein and Mrs. Sid-
