Marine Named Brigadier General

Leonard Earl Fribourg, who en-
listed in the U.S. Marine Corps 27
years ago during World War II,
became the first active duty Jew-
iSh Marine in the last 50 years tc
attain the rank of general upon
his promotion to Brigadier
General.
The late Charles Henry Lauch-
heirner of Baltimore, who gradu-
ated from the U.S. Naval Acad-
emy in 1881, became a Marine
Corps Brigadier General in 1916,
the records of the National Jewish
Welfare Board show.
General Fribourg is now serving
in Southeast Asia as assistant di-

Heights, Ohio, High School, at-

Mrs. Fribourg has sung in the •
chapel choirs of military congre- '
gations whose 'sisterhoods' are
served and supplied by the JWB
Women's Organizations' Services.
