The eight-lecture series is the
result of several years' planning

work at Wayne, served as a social
worker and then went on to receive
his MD degree from Wayne State

The Pius XII Center was assisted
in the funding of this series, and
the forthcoming publication based
on the lectures by the Jewish Com-
munity, Foundation of United Jew-
ish Charities and the estate of
Henry M. Butzel.
Rabbi Tanenbaum has been con-
sultant to the center since 1962.
The Judeo-Christian Lecture Series
promotes the mutual purpose of
the Pius XII Center and the Amer-
ican Jewish Committee to develop
understanding among diverse re-
ligious, racial and ethnic groups.
The Pius XII Center was estab-
lished at Monroe in 1958 by Sister
Cohan and Sister Fowkes. Under
the sponsorship of John Cardinal
Dearden (then archbishop), it was
moved to Detroit at 2340 Calvert in
1965. As a service center to repre-
i sentatives of all denominations, it
offers opportunities for research
and consultation in religious stu-
dies.
New textbooks, art, film strips
and a resource library have been
developed at the center whose spe-
cialized program in religious stu-
dies leads to a diploma in religious
education.
