the opening meeting 12:15 p.m.
Tuesday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Allan, 18657 George
Washington. Southfield will be in
the form of a pre-concert musical
tea highlighting the Nov. 16 An-
nual Artist Concert.

Appearing on the tea program
will be Mary Maas, concert pianist
and teacher; and Mrs. Raymond
H. Reece. immediate past presi-
dent of the Michigan Federation of
Music Clubs. Mrs. Jack Scherr,
past president, will be chairman
of the day, and advises that ad-
mission to this tea will be by pur-
chase of a patron ticket.

Sheraton Cadillac Hotel, Ellen Sue
Kuschinski became the bride of
Don Richard Castleman. Rabbis
Irwin Groner and Richard Hertz
and Cantor Jacob Sonenklar offi-
eiated.
After a honeymoon in Mexico,
fhe couple will reside in Beverly
Mills. Calif.
Parents of the couple are Mrs.
Alfred Aaron Kuschinski of
Providence Dr., Southfield, and
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Castleman
of Providence Dr., Southfield.
Donald Miles Cutler gave the
bride in marriage.
The bride's gown of Spanish lace
and peau de soie featured an Em-
pire waistline, long sleeves, cathe-
dral train and standup neckline.
Her veil was secured to a crown of
peau de soie appliqued with lace.
She carried a bouquet of Stepha-
notis attached to her confirmation
Bible.
Mrs. Donald Cutler served her
sister as matron of honor. Brides.
maids included Mrs. Michael
Messitte of Kensington, Md.,
Ruth Berent, Judy Eisenberg,
Joyce Price of Cleveland and
Laurie Spector.
Michael Messitte was best man.
and ushers included Frank Lewis
of San Francisco and Steven SoIo
non of Los Angeles. Junior usher
was Alan Cutler.

Mrs. Markel said that this year
the Music Study Club of Detroit
received the highest rating (9,578
points) of all musical organiza-
tions connected with the Michi-
gan Federation of Music Clubs.

In addition, at the recent biennial
national convention, in Albuquer-
que. Music Study Club received
special citation for its "Music for
Israel" project.

MRS. MARTIN BIGMAN

In a recent candlelight ceremony
at the Raleigh House. Janet Han-
nah Stewart became the bride of
Martin Bigman. Rabbi Benjamin
Gorrelicl. and Cantor Reuven
Frankel officiated.
The bl /de is the daughter of Mrs.
Meyer Stewart of Oldham Rd.,
Southfield, and the late Mr. Stew-
art. Her husband is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Bigman of Patton
Ave.
The bride's gown of silk or-
ganza featured a square neck-
line, attached chapel train and
Empire bodice and bishop sleeves
of rose pointe Chantilly lace ap-
pliqued with pearl beads. The
shoulder-length veil of silk illu-
sion was attached to a Dior bow
of silk organza encrusted with
pearls. She carried her confirma-
tion Bible covered with Phalae-
nopsis, Stephanotis and ivy.
The bride was given in marriage
by her brother, Dr. Roger H.
Stewart.
Mrs. Roger Stewart served as
matron of honor, and bridesmaids
included Mrs. Phillip Perlstein, sis-
ter of the bridegroom, Mrs. Hiram
Grossman and Carolyn Pacernick.
Sheri Lynne Stewart was flower-
girl.
Richard Ribiat served as best
man. Ushers included Joseph L.
Stewart, brother of the bride, Phil-
, lip Rarlstein and Marshall Yaker.

Nassau the couple will reside in
Detroit.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Richman
of Sussex Ave., Oak Park, an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter Marsha Evelyn to Joel
Schavrien, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Schavrien, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Schavrien of Dante
Ave., Oak Park. Miss Richman, a
graduate of Wayne State Univer-
sity's college of education is pursu-
ing her master's degree in guid-
ance and counseling here. Mr.
Schavrien received his juris doc-
tor degree from Wayne State Uni-
versity's school of law, and is
affiliated with Tau Epsilon Rho
Legal Fraternity. A Nov. 26 wed-
ding, is planned.

Folk Chorus Banquet

Detroit Jewish Folk Chorus will
open its 45th season with a ban-
quet 6 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish
Music Center. There will be a
musical program.
The chorus is auditioning new
singers for the annual concert to
be held at the Masonic Temple in
the spring. Tryouts will be held
8:30 p.m. Monday at the Jewish
Music Center.
